The History
Originated at the Swizzle Inn, Bermuda’s oldest pub, in the 1930s. The drink takes its name from the swizzle stick—a Caribbean technique using a wooden tool with prongs that’s spun between the palms to mix and chill the drink. Goslings, Bermuda’s iconic rum producer, codified the modern recipe and ships it to mainland American tiki bars as a standard.
